Shtil di Nakht, Calme est la nuit

Shtil di Nakht est une chanson à la gloire d'une résistante, composée en 1942 par Hirsh Glik (1922-1944),

Né à Vilnius en Lituanie. Hirshke (son surnom) commença à écrire des poèmes à 13 ans, et fut cofondateur d'un groupe de jeunes poètes. Il dut interrompre ses études prématurément faute de moyens, et travailla en usine.
Quand les Allemands occupèrent Vilnius en 1941, il fut capturé et emprisonné, envoyéen camp, puis ramené au ghetto de Vilnius, où il travailla avec le mouvement clandestin FPO (Partisans unis)
En septembre 1943, il fut déporté dans divers camps de concentration en Estonie, d'oùil finit par s'échapper en 1944, mais disparut, probablement exécuté dans le voisinage.
Jamais il n'a cessé d'écrire des poèmes.
Le compositeur de la musique est inconnu.

The traditional songs are sung by Nechama Hendel, Chava Alberstein, and Shimon Israeli with accompaniment from the CBS Israel Orchestra and Choir, conducted by Gil Aldema. The recording was prepared by the Yitzhak Kalznelson House of the Ghetto Fighters, at Kibbutz Lochamei Hagetaot, Israel, in co-operation with the Vilna Organisation of Haifa
